Southampton is a good university. Not the creme of the crop, but few English universities are one league above ours. The institution was founded in 1952. While it is relatively young,its many achievements are not to be overlooked: Southampton is usually in the top ten for research every year. In recognition for our university top-flight status, it was granted a membership in the prestigious Russell Group, which is a group of 19 large research-driven British universities. Although the group was not appropriately refered to as the "British Ivy League", the flattering comparison certainly confirms the fact Univeristy of Southampton has what it takes to evolve into a world-class institution. Finally, let us be reminded of our university's Motto: The Heights Yield to Endeavour.
