Fancy to appear in a film... will you?
To all,
I have received a request from one of the student of the Arts Institute at Bournemouth. He has asked the favor which you could help him in his project to make a movie about the Vietnamese people. Here is the email I have got so far:
" Hello all, my name is Simon Poole-Andersson and I am from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth. I am the Producer of a film being made set in RAF Sopley in Dorset. I am not sure if any of you are aware but in the late 1970's some 3,000 Vietnamese people passed through Sopley as refugees fleeing the conflict in Vietnam at the time. We have collected huge amounts of research on this subject that we would like to share. I have been desperately been trying to make contact with some Vietnamese people in the local area to Bournemouth to ask whether anyone would like to get involved and possibly offer some cultural consultation. ....
Here is the synopsis...
The year is 1980 and the last of the Vietnamese people are being asked to leave RAF Sopley. Everyone leaves apart from one young girl and her illegitimate newborn child who hide themselves in the hidden back room of an outer building. Weeks pass and the child soon becomes sick. Aware that she will be discovered the girl sends out a distress signal for help. Days pass and still no-one comes. The baby soon dies and beset with grief the mother buries her child in the grounds of Sopley. The mother then returns to the hidden room one last time and commits suicide.
14 years later to the day of the babies death an unexplained radio distress signal is picked up emanating from the long abandoned military base at Sopley. A small group of soldiers are sent to investigate.
our film begins here...
The supernatural plot above is actually an amalgamation of two of true stories we uncovered during our extensive research for this project. We as filmmakers have become passionate about uncovering some of this past and placing it into a accessible film narrative for a contemporary audience so that these stories are not lost forever.
We require someone to record some speech in Vietnamese and also we would like to speak in person to a Vietnamese person in person about this project to get their input/point of view."
Wow... now I could guess your view... it's huge and involving quite a lot of work. So if you are exciting and have a little spare time, you could be a next-in-line movie stars...
